Team GAMA

Alan Smeltzer is the Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of GAMA Network Solutions. 

Alan got his start in the computer industry building IBM clones around 1986 while attending the University of Tennessee.  He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (with Honors) in 1988, and shortly thereafter joined a local Computer and Networking company. 

After twelve years spent developing his skills supporting computers and networks for area businesses, Alan made the decision to start GAMA in July of 2001.  Since then, GAMA has experienced steady growth despite some very challenging economic times. 

Alan's goal is to make GAMA the predominant IT support company in the Knoxville Metropolitan Area, and to ultimately expand into markets across the region. 

When not in the office, Alan is an avid whitewater kayaker, frequenting creeks in the Smokey Mountains and on the Cumberland Plateau.  He also enjoys snow skiing, hiking, and pretty much anything that involves getting outside in the mountains. 

David Ezzell has over 15 years of experience in the computer technology field. This includes extensive programming, networking, hardware, and software experience. He has many years of experience in working with large database systems such as Oracle, SQL, SAP, MySQL, and Access and can program in many different languages such as HTML, JAVA, Oracle, PHP, VB, VB.net, C++, ASP.net, Flash and even DOS script files.

David spent the majority of his career working for large Corporations such as Marriott, Orlando Regional Hospital, Publix, International Paper, Bombardier Capital, Army Corps of Engineers, and King Provision / Burger King. David started working with GAMA in 2006 and has gone from Sr. Network Engineer to Vice President of Information Systems bringing many years of programming and networking experience with him. 

Recently David developed the Application Gateway and Continue Legal Education Shopping Cart for the Knoxville Bar Association and is currently upgrading their website utilizing Web 2.0 standards. He also completed a yearlong project for Microbial Insights in development of their LIMS database system using PHP / MySQL. This system is used to track projects, customers, lab work, time & billing, and reporting. 

David graduated with a 4.0 GPA High Honors in Computer Electronics and Networking Technology from Florida Career Institute in 1998 and has since then completed the following Certifications:

CompTia A+ (Computer Hardware Tech)
MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional)
CNA (Certified Novell Administrator)
MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)
CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)

Kaivon joined the GAMA team in December of 2007 as their accountant and office manager.  This marked a return to his native home after a decade in South Florida.  Kaivon is a graduate from East Tennessee State University with his BBA in accounting and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Lambda. 

Kaivon has worked in many aspects of accounting since graduation working his way up to his current position.  He comes to GAMA with recent experience as the controller/accounting manager with a multi-million dollar international publicly traded company where he was responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations and supervision of staff.  Kaivon was not an “Ivory Tower” type during this time, and assisted in all that could be done to help his previous company remain profitable.  This experience has given Kaivon the ability to look at the future of GAMA in a different way, and direct the growth in the correct direction. 

When Kaivon is not at the office, helping the team, he is a full time graduate student at University of Phoenix in the MSA program with an expected graduation date of April 1, 2010.  After this Kaivon is planning to sit for the CPA and CMA exams and continuing his growth both within the company and accounting profession. He is a devoted father and son and is found most of the time just relaxing with his family when the demands of school and work don’t intrude.

As for the few off hours that Kaivon has he can be found reveling in the awesome sights that East Tennessee has to offer, watching sports; specifically the VOLS, or relaxing at home with a book or video games.
